This is a great and very practical jacket. It is lightweight and warm, not too bulky, and fits easily over a sweater. I chose the black because it is so versatile, but I wish it had just a bit more style to it.
I bought this jacket to wear walking my dog. She expects hour long walks regardless of the weather. Even though I live in a fairly temperate area, we get some really cold days. Since I've been wearing this jacket, I haven't been cold once. I only wish the pockets were a little bigger for holding my dog walking paraphenelia.
I was nervous about ordering this jacket because I was afraid it wouldn't fit (I normally wear a size XXL), and sadly it doesn't. With the jacket zipped up, its just too snug across the back (feels like if you cross your arms in front too fast you'll rip it across the back) and too snug around my hips (has to sit up higher to be zipped). I can't fault LL Bean for this though since I knew I was taking a chance in having it fit, but since it was such a nice coat I wanted to try anyway.
Fit aside, it really is a gorgeous coat. It's not too poofy for a down jacket, feels lightweight, extremely warm, and very soft. It's also very flattering, seems to be fitted slightly in the waist so you keep your curves and don't look like a large poof ball when wearing it. I got the Lily Pond color and love it - its a darker green than the picture with the model, but seems to be very similar to the other photo of the jacket alone on the website.
I'll be exchanging mine for a mens XL and hoping it stays as nice and flattering as the womens one was.
