I bought the goose down vest a month ago and loved it so much I just had to get the jacket. I am in love with this jacket; it is super warm but weighs next to nothing. It will "smoosh" up small so it packs great but fluffs right back with a few shakes. It is almost too warm for the mild winters here in Tennessee, but I sure won't ever be cold wearing this jacket!
However, the sleeves are a little short, and the shoulders are a little narrow. I'm 5'10", so I'm not super tall, and my arms aren't incredibly long. But they are proportional to my height, so they're longer than the average woman's.
I mean, the sleeves are not super short, but they just leave a little wrist or cuffs showing. And the shoulders and upper back pull a little, but not a ton. I'm a size 12 and I ordered a size L, and I can wear a thick sweater underneath without a problem.
If a little shortness in the sleeves or narrower shoulder really bothers you, you may want to rethink this one. On the positive, size-wise, it is plenty long in the torso. It doesn't ride up and stays securely around my hips.
This is a great jacket. It fits true to size and it extremely warm. It is so light it feels like it would not have the capability to keep me warm, but it is fantastic. I recommend this jacket.
There are several things I love about my new L.L. Bean goose down coat: 1) lightweight, but warm, 2) very attractive, 3) cuffs on the sleeves are lined, 4) the outer part of the cuff has velcro-closure. Will buy in additional colors if they come available. I am 12P and ordered XL. This allows me to wear over several layers without being constricted.
