This coat served me well on a recent trip to Quebec, Canada. It packs very compactly and then fluffs back up when pulled out of the suitcase. I was warm with just a single layer underneath in 26 degree Fahrenheit temps. And although it's down, the fit is trim and flattering. The insulated hood kept my head warm in high winds and snow.

I received my parka today and worn it right away. Wow - it fits just right, it is light, not bulky and plenty warm. The detachable hood sits on my head in spite of strong wind unlike my other parkas (not LLBean brand). It is the love from the first sight.

I was a little worried about the warmth of this coat when I got it, as it's really light-weight... but that's so deceptive. It's light enough that it doesn't add girth, but it's also turned out to be the warmest coat I've ever owned! I live in Colorado where temperatures have dipped well below freezing and I've stayed toasty warm in this coat. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that I'm not crazy about the front pockets. Although they're very effective at keeping my hands warm, I'd prefer them to be a little deeper than they. There's a small pocket inside the coat as well, but it would be useful to have a couple more pockets. I love the dual zipper. Being able to unzip it from the bottom when I'm sitting down is a plus. I'm 5'9" and usually have problems with sleeves not being quite long enough, but with the added liner the sleeves aren't an issue for me. I guess the coat sleeves themselves could be a tad bit longer (?), but not necessary. I think the liner makes the sleeves just right. It extends maybe a half-inch or so past the coat sleeve and I feel like that was the intended fit. The liner also fits comfortably around my wrist to keep the wind from wafting up the sleeve. I'm extremely happy with this coat! It's made well, it was a great value and I'll be enjoying it's warmth for years to come.

I've been wearing an old, ugly, shapeless coat for years, so when I started wearing this coat, people immediately noticed! I got so many compliments on the looks of it. It's very warm, and I like the detachable hood. The fleece-lined pockets and cuffs are a nice touch, although the pockets would be better if they were a little deeper. I think it's a great value.
