Purchased the Goose Down Hooded Parka. Love the coat, fits good, and is warm. The only thing I don't like about the coat is when you zip the coat all the way up, the zipper seam edges poke me under my chin, and is very uncomfortable, but if you don't zip all the way up, it's fine. I like the way the hood fits in the back, but do not like the way it fits around my face. Wished they had shown a picture of how the front of the hood fits. Other than these two things, I love the coat, the feel of the coat, the fit, light weight, very warm and the price.
I've lived with this coat for a couple of months, and LOVE the length, and, though very light, it's adequately warm. The next few months here in New England will be the test. My disappointments start with inadequate pockets. The two it has on the outside are not quite deep enough, and the angle and shallowness of the one inside, not too helpful. When you go out for a walk in the woods, you want to be able to take some stuff, like small binoculars, a small camera, a pair of glasses, cell phone, keys, etc., and still have someplace to put your hands. A few more pockets inside, with some depth and space would be welcome, too. Also, the color choices were uninspiring, to say the least. (Men's stuff seems to have better colors on offer.) The coat's fabric is annoying. Again, in the woods, this shiny fabric is noisy, When your sleeves swish back and forth against the coat's side, you can't hear the subtle sounds of nature. Isn't there some kind of brushed, softer shell fabric? Anyway, the coat is a great concept, it just needs a little fine tuning and improvement.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, fabulous value!!!!
Although less costly than other down coats, due to fewer features, LLBean kept the same 650 fill power in the coat. I really appreciate that. Although a very basic coat, the styling is really flattering, the warmth factor fantastic, and the hood is great! I love the way the hood cinches up, keeping the cord from smacking your face. Great design.
Thanks LLBean for making a more affordable coat that will keep us super warm.
