This is my 3rd LLBean down coat. I have 2 Ultrawarm's in different lengths and colors and needed a jacket that was not white (I would never recommend the "Paperwhite" color to anyone!). This is a great buy, its very warm, but I wish it had a bigger inside pocket and snaps on the outside. There is only one inside pocket and it is about the size of a credit card. It could fit a very small credit card sized purse. There are no snaps on the outside like the Ultrawarm which I really miss on this jacket, but the zipper is just fine. Overall, this is a great buy for the warmth and quality of such a lightweight down jacket. Avoid ordering Paperwhite and you will love this coat!
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, goose down parka
I haven't had a change to use this parka yet. Right now in St.Louis it's in the 70's. However it feels very warm. Perwinkle is a beautiful color I only wish it came in a true red. Sizing is a little difficult for me since I am between a large and extra large. I settled on the extra large. It seems to be a very well made, quality product. I wish that LLbean would be more explicit about garment measurements and tell us the actual parka length, bust , hips and "sweep" measurements
This parka is warm, but it has an odd fit. The body is boxy, the chest is slim, and the sleeves are short, no matter the size. If you have average to long arms, I would not suggest this particular jacket. On a positive note, the waist has a bungee cord, as does the hood, so you can cinch the waist and hood to prevent cold air from going in. If you want to try it out, I would suggest ordering up one size.
After reading reviews I decided to buy a size up and am very happy I did. The large size is roomy enough for me to wear a heavy sweater underneath, but still close enough to the body for when I'm wearing something thinner. I love how it's longer in the back to cover your tush! Nice, cozy fleece at the wrists and collar. Super soft. Not bulky either, lightweight. Very nice. Can't wait to use it. Farmer's Almanac is predicting lots of snow for my area this winter, so I'm sure I'll get my chance soon enough.
