I like this parka. I wish they would make this a little larger because it fits closely enough to decrease the space needed for the down to adapt to my body temperature, and it also allows more outside air in than the first down jacket I owned several years ago. I also don't like the pocket lining and the lining around the collar... would pay more for a nicer feeling lining...The parka overall is wonderful, light weight, and does keep me warm if I wear a couple of layers underneath... My first down jacket didn't need layers to be sufficient in 0 degree temperatures, and I thought this one would be as good..The next down jacket I buy will be a mans because they are a little roomier and less concerned about flattering the female figure..I would preferr deeper outer pockets. I love the double zipper and it is easy to use..also like the way the hood tabs slip inside the collar to avoid the velcro scratching my neck.. Over all, I would recomend this jacket.
I received this coat for my birthday and I love it! It has been freezing here in Philly and my new coat is keeping me warm. The color is great, too. Everyone has a black down coat, but I have the only green one!
I bought this coat as a gift for a family member for Christmas. When she tried it on, I could see that it was not her mother's "parka". This one has style and shape and would flatter any figure. The subtle curve at the waist and the diagonal stitching makes it look more like a coat that would be worn to the office or an evening out. The size was also perfect. Best of all, you can't go wrong with LLBean quality and guarantee. I should know, I had my first pair of "Bean boots when I was 7 years old.
I generally wear a 6/8 in pants and a small/medium in tops. I bought this in Medium because it was the only size available in the lovely Green color. I was worried it might be too big, but I think it works well with a tshirt and sweater layered underneath. The small would be a closer fit, but I may not have been able to layer as much and still be comfy. I just wish LLBean had styled the pockets on this one after the pockets on the men's version! They are barely big enough for my hands, let alone storage of any mittens, cell phone, etc. The men's version has 5 pockets on the front, where as this only has 2. Since I'm a big fan of pockets, I ordered the men's version as well to compare and I like how it has snaps on top of the zipper (sadly the women's version does not). The men's small is pretty much the same size as the women's medium, but obviously the shape is different and it is a little bulkier looking (see attached pic) so I will probably send it back or give it to my boyfriend.
