This coat is exceedingly warm and lightweight--just what I needed to survive winter in Chicago! It's also a bit more streamlined than many down parkas I've seen. Unfortunately, after just one full winter, the underarm seams are starting to come apart. This is disappointing, given LL Bean's reputation for quality and durability. Hopefully I can have them reinforced by a tailor so that I can continue to enjoy this great coat!
This is a good quality jacket that met my expectations in terms of the material qualities. It is lightweight and is an attractive looking jacket. I normally wear a Large, but purchased an Extra Large. It fits well, with room to spare for layering. I am greatful for the roomy size because I do need to layer. My one complaint is that this jacket is supposedly rated for temperatures to 35 below. By 4 below F, I need to layer with a fleece jacket underneath, so I think the temperature rating for this jacket should be changed. However, the jacket is still well worth the price I paid and I was pleased by the prompt delivery service.
I have been very pleased with this coat. It is very warm, yet not too hot in the car with the heater on. Not noisy like most nylon coats, and it doesn't feel big and bulky. I really like that the hood has a wire in the edge so that it stands out over your face a little- this is very helpful in the rain , as it keeps your face from getting wet. I also love the soft cuffs inside the sleeves to keep wind out. Love it! A+!!!
This coat/parka is awesome! It's warm without being bulky. I'm 5'2" and got a regular M, and it hangs below my tush..which is what I wanted--better coverage for long walks and waiting for the train. There's enough room if I wear a heavier sweater underneath. There's a fleece-like material around the collar, in the pockets, and around the sleeves to add to the comfort. Good coverage on the hood. The only thing I'd like to see is a place to put headphones through to make listening to my iPod easier. I highly recommend this coat!!
