The goose down jacket is AWESOME. I bought it as a gift and my sister loved it. It fits just right and it is very warm. It is perfect. You can not imagine how many jackets I saw before choosing this one. I needed a navy blue jacket and this was exactly what she wanted. Thank You.
I ordered this in anticipation for the big freeze and it measured up in everyway. It is incredibily light so much so that I forget to take it off when I get home and don't realise I still have it on. It's the only longish coat I have that's comfortable to wear when I'm driving. It's fabulously warm and yet so light. I didn't give it a five star because it sheds feathers a little.
This is a nice midweight down jacket that works in a range of temperatures. The length keeps your seat warm, which I appreciate, and the zip-in hood is handy in spring rains. However, as another reviewer pointed out, the cuffs are set too high in the sleeves (and not just on the petite version). They catch on whatever you're wearing, the jacket pulls across the shoulder blades as if it were a size too small, and you're constantly pulling at clothing sleeves to get a good fit. Sometimes that means pulling shirt sleeves outside the jacket---not exactly the height of style.
I kept mine because overall I like it. However, I'm seriously considering cutting the cuffs down to their seams. Next time something like this garment is tested, LL Bean should make sure the tester is wearing winter-style layers to ensure a good design.
I ordered this parka and was very disappointed. The medium was too tight across my hips. I then ordered a large and while the coat fit across the hips it was too big everywhere else. In both the medium and large sizes I looked like the Michelan Man -- big and round. I sent both back
