As with all my purchases from LLBean the vest has outstanding quality. LL Bean continues to be my "go to" company that I can always trust to deliver the best of the best products and service.
This was a gift to my daughter, who is 5'6" and 140#. Her chest size is average plus. The small size vest was not snug at all - the armholes were *almost* oversized - so no worries about wearing this with a thick sweater underneath. In active winter clothing, I always look for zippered pockets. The blue peri color has a violet hue to my eyes, so make sure that works for you.
