I'm between sizes in these so a large was a little tight (if I wanted much under it) and an ex-large was too big (unless I put several layers on-which I have since it's been ten degrees lately), but they're great. I love the green color in particular. They pilled a bit at first, but are very warm and seem well made. Glad I bought them.
My husband has worn zipper wool sweaters for years and needed a new one. In the catalogue, the Bean one looked like the type he's always had. When it came we were very disappointed in the weight and the quality of the weave. The stand-up collar was too high. We decided to send it back and keep looking for a replacement elsewhere.
I have owned my Ragg Wool Sweater for about a year now, and have been very happy with it. Last winter, it was my "default" piece of clothing on cold days. It's warm, comfortable, non-itchy, and reasonably good looking.
I only have two complaints: (a) the handwarmer pockets are unnecessary and make my paunch appear even larger; and (b) I've been wanting to buy a second one, but my size and preferred color never seems to be in stock.
