I purchased two monogrammed bags as Christmas gifts, I am terribly disappointed in the size of the monogram, practically invisible . The thread color was black and did not show up very well on the blue and green. The quality of the bag was okay, but not happy.
Years ago my wife bought the extra large version of this bag for all her "girly" stuff. At the time we were living aboard our trimaran, cruising the Bahamas. That said, this bag got knocked about quite a bit, and still held up well. Now I too have decided to organize my toiletries in a more compact size bag, and the same quality and performance has been carried into this new item. It's the perfect size for an outdoorsman on the go.
I travel for my job and I used to pack my toiletries for every trip. Not anymore. I bought the large bag and then I went out and bought duplicates of everything I use. Now I never have to pack and unpack my toiletries. I keep it fully stocked all the time, so all I do is grab it and go! There's room for makeup, hair products, mouth products, face creams, hair products, glasses, contacts and medicines/first aid. I even keep an extra cell phone charger and a pair of underwear in there. I love this so much that it has become my standard wedding shower gift - one for the bride with her new initials and one for the groom - fully stocked! It always gets the greatest reaction from the crowd. I can't say enough about this bag. I love it. I only gave this 5 stars because I didn't have a way to give it 10!!!
I do really like this bag, and I'll probably buy more as gifts. It is absolutely just as good as more expensive toiletry bags I've seen. But it would be even better with a couple of additional features. I'd love to see LL Bean add: 1) Some sort of floor support for the family-size - to flip down so things don't fall all over each other while I'm loading the bag. 2) Some options for more internal division/organization, like maybe optional snap-on interior walls. I'd even be willing to buy inserts. For now, I'll just put plastic pencil boxes in the bag to keep things certain things separate. The removable shower caddy is a good idea, but there's no clear place to put it in the bag so it just moves around willy nilly.
