Style and comfort at the first wearing. Plus if your feet get chilled especially during a summer in San Francisco you can slip on a pair of socks and keep on trekking.
These are great watershoes. I bought them to replace a pair of Teva sandles I had worn out. I wear them in the water, on shore at camp, and when I'm running errands.
The one issue I have is the insole. It is slightly molded and it doesn't fit my foot perfectly. It took some getting used to but now I that I have, I reach for these first in warm weather!
