I live abroad and cannot always find good shoes locally. Shopping for shoes without trying them can be difficult on my sensitive feet - the 'wrong' shoe will blister me badly in seconds.. I do not care how expensive or recommended by experts they may be. The Explorer Sandals are an amazing find! They are comfortable. Cushioned. Rugged. Sturdy. Excellent for walking on the uneven, torn up and unpredictable pavement of the place I currently live. They breathe well and my feet stay cool - as tested recently during a mile-long walk in 106F temps. I've only had them for a week or so, so I can't speak to how they hold up, but I love them already, and have faith in the proven quality of LL Bean products.
these LOOK like some well known, high-priced sandals and I appreciate LL Bean giving me a price break for a much more reasonable but just as comfortable sandal. From the first wearing, they were very comfortable. I have one pair for work(am on my feet all day) and one for play and can take long walks in them.
when walking in water with gravel ect the gravel goes in the outsides then gets trapped by the screen in the soles, causing pain to the feet. if there was no screen it would be better cause it would be easier to get the stones out, stones are to be expected but they are hard to get out the way they are, that is my only complaint.. otherwise excellent shoe.
Love everything about this shoe except for one thing: the cinch cord doesn't tighten quite enough for MY absolutely perfect fit but it'll do. Quality and construction are extremely good. Cool, lightweight, and comfortable with no chafing.
