I just received my shoes today and am about to order a pair for my husband. They are very comfortable and the adjustment system is fantastic! This shoe should be perfect for every day family activities but I think the foot bed is too soft for any type of trail walk or mild hiking.
The first time I wore them was Saturday, April 19, 2008. It was like walking on small stones. So painful I had to take them off after about 10 minutes. I found they made the soles of my feet feel hot. Sunday, April 20, 2008 tried them again. I wore them all day but had to force myself to not take them off. I could not find or see any bumps in the insole but it's like walking on stones. Very painful. They are difficult to get on. Monday April 21 2008 the back of my heel was sore from the sandal but that passed after an hour or so.
I have a narrow to medium foot with a crazy narrow heel so it's difficult to find any closed-in shoe to fit. These sandals are a perfect fit with room for adjustment as your foot expands. They look as stylish and other brands with a much lower price tag. The only thing I would change would be to add a little more cushion to them. (I am a real stickler for cushion.) A great sandal.
I am very happy to write this review because these sandals have been excellent in every way. They are super comfortable and airy, yet secure-feeling and well-tractioned. Last week my family and I vacationed at the Grand Canyon and Sedona. I brought other shoes, including hiking boots, in my suitcase. The only footwear I wore were these sandals ! From driving to hiking on dirt and rocks to wading in the river...I was comfy and sure-footed all the way. In fact , my 9 year old commented on how my climbing skills have improved (I tend to be a wobbly chicken) and I credit these sandals. Knowing LLBeans exceptional product quality from being a more-than-20-year customer, I am confident that these will last for many more adventures !
