The name, explorer, is exactly where these sandals have taken me in the High Sierras of California. After a long day's hike, the Explorer is the perfect shoe to slip on and go out to dinner...Comfortable, functional and stylish.
They are very nice, well made, BUT the drainage ports kind of hurt after excessive walking. The sandals themselves are very comfy, but the areas where the holes are get a little sensitive on the sole of foot after a lot of walking. My dh reported the same issue. I want to keep them bc I love them, but I do also want to be able to use them for a fair amt of trekkin' around. [from sea to land and back..no switching around..we stayed at a resort that had long walks to everything.]
The Explorer Sandal is incredibly awesome. It has a comfortable fit with an excellent design. The mesh built into the sole was ingenious. This was the best buy for the summer.
This item was a great disappointment. The quick drying, airy mesh and front toe protection are great features. However, the drainage openings in the soles are sources of excruciating foot pain. I tried these sandals on in the Burlington, MA store where they seemed fine. Once I wore them for real, I could only endure them for two hours. They are now back in the box waiting to be returned.
