I really wanted to like this shoe, but it wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be. First off, I don't recommend them at all for beach use. Sand quickly gets in the gaps in the leather area on the sides of the shoe and then stays put inside the shoe. The mesh they describe is only in the sole and covers holes in the sole so water can get out. As others have written, the holes in the sole are uncomfortable and gave me hot spots on my feet that lasted for days after wearing them. Sand also collects in the holes.
