I received the product a few weeks ago. I read the other reviews and did not have any of the issues listed by other customers. I found the sandals comfortable and classy looking. I really like the lack of velcro which I have found to be a problem over time. I travel extensively overseas and will test these sandals in the oceans of the world and the hot streets of the countries close to the equator. I will write another review after my next trip which will begin in November 2008. I will be gone six months and it will be a good test of this product which I will wear almost everyday. I have worn out several pairs of sandals over the years.
These are good camp shows. I have keens that are a bit more rugged, but these are more comfortable. The sole slits not only drain water but add some air that helps with foot moisture and oder....could go 5 star but I'd like these to be tougher for hard trail use.
Best sandals available for the money! I tried Keen's but was unhappy (at twice the price) with the fit and combersome toe. The explorer sandal on the other hand, is very comfortable-some other reviews knock the H2O drains, but I say they make the shoe. If you're looking for a great, comfortable beach/boating sandal that's a true bargain at it's price- get the Explorers-they're well worth it.
I've had these for 4 months. At first the bottom vents felt weird, but I soon got used to the feel. Unlike Keens, the side straps are in a good place and my little toes stay in the sandals! Comfortable with or without socks. Stay secure but not tight . Had one side mesh tear out of the stitching a bit. If it gets worse I will return them. Great for casual biking and walking. The bottom vents let water in as well as out. I think they should be eliminated--they are more trouble than they are worth. How much drainage does one shoe need anyway?
