These shoes are great for walking the water trails on the river, or even wading in the water. They are good for walking around town too. Wet or Dry they are very good shoes!
Quality-wise, these shoes are everything you would expect from llbean. However, do not overlook the "drainage in the footbed" element in the detailed specs. The slits in the footbed are deep and wide enough that it's taking my foot a few wearings to adjust to the somewhat pinching sensation. Also, for city wearing, beware of unexpected puddles. I stepped in a very shallow one just outside my front door, forgetting that the footbed had drainage openings. The sensation of a suddenly cold and wet foot sole, but dry ankle and toes, was very surprising. I think in the wetter spring weather, this will also take some getting used to.
The styling of these sandals is very nice, and the comfortable fit meant no break-in period which is usually needed by this buyer. Sandals were perfect throughout a lot of use in urban, beach, and marsh settings in Central America; and kept the feet cool in a hot climate. Their appearance was not affected by immersion, although the drying time was lengthy.
Vented soles are uncomfortable and can collect detritus that sticks. Maybe ok in less prickly climes than Central Texas, but I wouldn't recommend them for anyone with tender soles.
