As another reviewer stated, the mesh lining should be replaced with a warmer material. The mesh will not keep your hands warm when you put them in the pockets. The jacket is just the right weight and warmth for California weather. Use in the wind is great. The jacket works well in a light rain, haven't used it in a heavy rain. I was expecting more for the price.
This is a "must have" jacket. I'd like to stress the fact that it has a nice fit, is fairly light and well tailered. I use it on my motorcyle. Some days leather is too heavy. This jacket has amazing wind resistance and offers a comfortable warmth.
This is a great coat. I work in downtown Chicago and spend a lot of time walking and standing at bus stops. The wind protect is excellent. It also has good protection from the snow. It is roomy enough for a several layers. I have found two problems with the coat. The sleeves are very wide at the wrist and allow wind to blow up if I am not wearing gloves. The pockets are mesh. Not only do they lack warmth but things can get stuck in the mesh. Witha a fleece under the coat I can wear it into the low 20's
I was impressed for many reasons before purchasing this excellent jacket. The quality, fit & finish were typical Bean. There are only two reason's this jacket made it back to L.L. Bean
1. The sleeves were just too long. (Men's Med.)
2. The pockets really need to be lined with a fleece to keep hands warm.
Otherwise, this is a jacket that I strongly recommend to many.
