I love this coat! It's super warm and also waterproof. I live in Central Florida but we do get weather in the 30s as well as lots of rain in the summer, so the zip out liner is perfect. The liner is thin and not bulky but very warm and comes down mid-hip length. The coat is about knee length and blocks the wind very well. I like the dark brown color and have also ordered one in black---I love the coat that much I want a spare! The only thing negative is the zipper is a little fiddly but you just have to work with it a little.
This coat looks so well made and designed, I'm sure it would do the job. The bad thing is that is has almost no waist definition, so it looks unflattering on me. The front is so bulky it almost makes me look pregnant. I wish it had a belt or princess seams to define the waist. If it looked like Bean's "West End Trench" on the outside, it would be fantastic. I like the liner. Unfortunately, I'm sending it back and continuing to look for something warm, dry, flattering, hooded, and in petite sizes.
I purchased the coast for a trip out of the country. It is light weight,packable and has the removable liner and hood. What more could I ask for!! It is a great coat.
As usual, another well made LL Bean item! The coat fits perfectly, and it's well constructed- no loose threads, mismatched seams, etc. The zip-out liner/jacket is also well made. It has a 'trim' fit, meaning it would not fit too well over lots of bulky layers. But I'm very pleased with the coat, speed of shipping, and price. It's really true-you get what you pay for.
