This seems to be a terrific coat with all the right features, however, it is very small across the shoulders. I usually wear a large for most LL Bean items. Even an XL in this coat would not fit across the shoulders, although it was ample in the waist and hips. I was quite disappointed because otherwise, it looked like it would be a great buy.
Unfortunately I had to return this coat. I really wanted to like this coat because I am travelling south in March and April and will need a heavier coat atarting out up north but then wanted to be able to remove the liner for the South, if I used the coat. It seemed to have everything I was looking for. The separate jacket is a great idea. The fabric on everything is great and I like a detachable hood. The only problem I had was the fit. Maybe it should not have been "fitted". It actually fit fine but if I wore a sweater, I felt like it could be too close around the hip because that is also where the jacket liner fell. I just did not like the way it fit overall, especially around the middle and hip area. The length was fine. I feel really bad because now I need to find another coat with a removable liner, hood, longer length like this very soon and have not had much luck. It's also probably not a great time time to find removable liner coats either.
I was concerned that this coat would not be warm enough in below zero weather but have found it to be great (not that I spend alot time outdoors). I wear the inside jacket when shopping and its plenty warm also. The sizing was just right for me, bought a L which is what I usually buy.
I like the coat though I shouldn't have sized up. I bought an L instead of my usual M, and it is big and boxy even if I wear thick layers underneath. The quality is good and I'm keeping this coat anyway.
