perfect except for the sleeves. way too long. everyone says so. it's true. apparently no one has arms that long. I gave it a three because this is obviously a long standing mistake by the manufacture that EVERYONE complains about but LL Bean does nothiong to correct

The jacket did not fit very good. Its style was tacky. It was not very comfortable. My arm went down the sleeve inside the lining.

the twill blazer arrived in a timely fashion. it was as advertised. the sleeves were too long and had to be altered for an additional cost. material seems adequate; the lining is very adequate and more than I expepcted.

I like nearly everything about the coat -- style, color (fabulous), adaptability to different occasions, etc. -- except for the fit. It's fine everywhere (sleeves, shoulders, length) except around my middle. At 160 pounds and 5' 8", a 42 regular ought to button comfortably. I like it so much, though, that I'm wearing it open ... and I'm staying on my diet. A point of interest: it was the last of its kind on the rack, so a lot of customers must have liked what they saw just like I did.
Pros: sport coat.

Well made jacket. Everyone has commented that it looks nice and fits properly. Of course, fit will count on your own body shape, but for me, it worked great. This jacket was just what I needed, not too formal, but a quality garment with functional pockets I didn't expect!

Close
Stressed pocket flap corners
First, has anyone really worn a blazer with the sleeves rolled up, or is it just me? I know I'm not Signature's demographic, but still... I tried this blazer on (in blue) at the main store in Freeport last year. Since, in khaki, it was exactly what I'd been looking for except for the sleeve length (and since it was LL Bean), I ordered one and had the sleeves shortened locally. I received it in March 2011 and wore it last spring, fall and winter. Living in Texas, it got little to no use over the summer, so it got no more than 9 months of wear. The top corners of the inside lining pockets started to pull apart recently, no big deal, I mended them. That's when I discovered that the OUTSIDE pockets had also started to pull apart (see picture). Remember, I got 9 months of wear from this coat and used the outside pockets very little if at all. I like L.L. Bean for their simple styling and good value. This blazer gets 4-minus stars for style (the sleeves have to be tailored) and 1 star for durability. Too bad - it dresses up a pair of jeans without seeming, well, dressy. Maybe I got a lemon?

The jacket fit perfectly in all ways except the sleeves, which were about 2 1/2" to 3" too long for a 38 regular.
I had to return the Item.

I enjoy it. For me the shoulders had a tendency to slip back, so the shirt collar and the suit collar don't line up. I think if you got the right size (I got a 40 and am a 42) it would fit well.

Strange fit

I love the concept of this jacket. It's hard to get any more casual in a blazer, and as a result it looks great with jeans.
My issue is with the fit. From other reviews I gathered that the arms were too long for most people, and since I usually wear a 44 long, I figured I'd take a shot on the regular 44 and the arms would be just right. Turns out I was correct, but the problem is that the body length is still like a regular 44, which just looks too short on me. I'm left wondering what size humans this jacket was designed for. If you're a regular size, the sleeves are probably going to be too long, and they're not going to be easy to have tailored due to the functional cuffs. And if you're like me and the sleeves fit, chances are it will be too short in the body.
Oh well, now I know. I won't buy another L.L. Bean Signature jacket unless they decide to start offering tall sizes in their blazers and suit jackets like practically every other clothing company. Still on the fence about whether to return this or get it tailored and just put up with the short length, but I'm leaning return.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I originally purchased the navy blazer and liked it so much I purchased it in khaki as well. Paired with the khaki pants its a great and affordable summer cotton suit. Note the color is closer to a stone white. A comfortable jacket that dresses up jeans and an oxford nicely without trying to hard. The chest size fits well but the sleeve runs a bit long. With functional buttons it's a little more expensive to tailor but well worth it.

My first purchase from L.L. Bean and they were very helpful. Really like the fit off the rack. Typically I get things tailored but I probably won't with this. The sleeves are a bit longer (1") that most of my other blazers, but I can live with it. I also sized down based on a recommendation. I usually wear a 40, but ordered a 38 and it fit perfect in the shoulders.

I bought this intending it to be a casual suit for work. The pants didn't fit me, too baggy in the lower leg especially, but the suit coat fit right out of the bag. (5'10", 175, size 38). I'd thought it would need tailoring, but leaving the sleeves a bit longer than I typically do works well: I use this coat as a daily work casual and like it so much I may order the dark khaki (I have the navy blue). Feels high quality, great product.

I wear my Signature clothing...:As an Entire Outfit
I wear blazers and suits quite often, and I have yet to find one as comfortable as the New Traditional Twill blazer. The blazer is more casual than most other blazers, however, it is still more than appropriate for buisness casual settings. I really liked the more casual stitching.
I would suggest ordering down a size. I have a 37.5 inch chest and found the 36R to be good fit the shoulders. However, the blazer is a more traditional fit and I had my tailor take away 3-4 inches of fabric around the waist.
One other plus to the blazer is that is have high armholes, which allows more movement without the blazer riding up.
You can pair the blazer with the pants and make casual suit. It would not be quite appropriate for business professional settings. However, it is perfect for buisness casual, summer weddings, or dressing up for a night out and not looking too stuffy,
The Navy color I ordered has remained my favorite blazer for almost a year now. Great buy.

I wear my Signature clothing...:To Complement My Existing Wardrobe
I was looking for a nice casual blazer to wear with jeans, and I have found just that. I went with the New Traditional Twill Blazer in navy blue and I couldn't be more pleased with the jacket.
I am 6' tall and about 175lbs, I went with a size 38 and it fits me perfectly, even sleeve length is spot on. The jacket has a nice vintage wash to it, and has a fitted look. I may have it tailored to take it in a little bit at the sides of the body, but for a casual jacket I'm not sure I'm even going to bother as the fit is very good right off the rack.
If you're looking for a nice lightweight casual jacket, look no further as this one fits the bill nicely.

Got what appears to be the last unit in dark khaki. I'm between sizes and sized up (partly because that was the only one available). After seeing it in person, I wanted it to fit so bad; material, color, and styling are spot-on, but it was way loose in the shoulders and long in the sleeves, so I returned it. I think it would have fit perfectly if I sized down. Only complaint: the padding in the shoulders is a bit thicker than I'd like, and functioning cuffs makes sleeve length really important.

I purchased the one in blue & it does not have a beat up jean jacket look in the least, as one reviewer said. It is a perfect Sport Coat for casual wear. This is obviously not for the boardroom...but you wouldn't be looking at an LLBean Sport Coat for that anyway. This can be dressed up or down without a hassle in the least. This will be an integral part of my wardrobe for so many types of occasions, I am very happy I have this in my closet right now.

I'm very please with this jacket. It is a bit too casual to ever wear with the matching pants, but great with slacks or jeans. Definitely dressy enough for business casual. Good trim fit, long arms, substantial feel. My only complaint is that it's not fully lined. As a warning, the blue does have slightly worn look, but I like it.

I wear my Signature clothing...:At Work
I bought this jacket and the matching pants, though I will wear them as separates rather than a suit. They are definitely more casual pieces - not for use as a real "suit" if you work in a particularly formal environment. Great if you work in a laid-back environment or to throw over a casual outfit for an evening out. I work in law and I'd wear this jacket in the office on an ordinary day but not for court or a first meeting with clients.
My only complaint is the fit - the jacket is slightly loose and the sleeves are quite long compared to other 36Rs I've worn. The sides of the jacket can easily be taken in but shortening the sleeves might be a problem due to the functional buttons. I'm taking it to a tailor soon for an appraisal. We'll see. Overall quality and feel is good so I'd be disappointed to have to return it.
