Before purchasing, I carefully read and pondered the posted reviews. They contained very candid and explicit comments, which I took to heart. I am 5' 1", 105 pounds and followed the recommendations for sizing. Though I normally purchase petite sized clothing, the sweater fits perfectly. I thought perhaps the sleeves might be too long, but that is not the case. To echo another reviewer, I like that it is made of cotton and not wool.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Warm and Snuggly

My sweater just arrived and, as other reviewers said, it runs small. I wear an XS in everything and considered returning this for a larger size, but changed my mind. It's so warm, snuggly, flattering, well-made, and comfortable, even though I will have to be very careful choosing a shirt to wear under it. Whatever it is will need to be very lightweight, or I may opt to wear it with just a camisole. After looking at the two photos on the website, I like the look of just the sweater without a shirt showing. At any rate, I'm keeping my XS and can't wait to wear it. It's beautiful and I know I'll enjoy it for a long time. If you prefer a looser fit, you may want to order up a size or two.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have looked for a cotton fisherman sweater for a long time (allergic to wool). So happy I finally found it. Unlike the regular LL. Bean clothes, this runs small. I usually wear an XS in Bean, but I got a medium in this sweater. It is warm enough to wear while skiing, and I look forward to trying it out on the water this summer. I loved it so much, i got my husband one in blue.

Saw this sweater and loved it immediately. Ordered it in a large which is my usual LLB go-to size for sweaters -- I am 5'6" and about 140 pounds -- but I was told that Signature sizes run more fitted and that is definitely the case -- it fits over nothing but there isn't room for a lightweight chambray shirt under it -- the knit and weight are wonderful, it's a beautiful sweater, but the Large is already on its return trip to LLB and I'm now waiting for the EXL which is not expected until June -- but then, that was the expected arrival date for this Large also, so I am hoping the replacement will come sooner. I would absolutely recommend this sweater!

Simply Perfect!

This is a beautiful sweater made of high quality heavy cotton. The sweater is perfect for 3 seasons of wear - plus even great for chilly summer nights at the beach! I ordered an XS and it fits perfect - not too tight with a very flattering fit! The length is perfect if you are petite - I am 5'4" and 115lbs - and can be even be worn with low-rise jeans. The XS sweater measures 33 1/2" chest and 31" length. I called LL Bean Customer Service - the best! - and for each size there is an additional 1" in the chest and 1" in length; I hope this helps other girls find the right size because this sweater is amazing!!!
Also, the color is a perfect off-white which is more authentic of an Aran/fisherman knit sweater. This reminds me of the same sweaters I purchased in Ireland in wool - except much better because the cotton version is less hot with the same weight and great detail.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Correction: The length should have been 21" (for the XS) and not 31" in my review!

Good, but not great.

The fabric is a nice weight. I don't get hot wearing it with a shirt underneath. However, it is not long enough for this style of sweater. There is a gap between the sweater and my pants. Also, be sure to note that it is beige (as it says) and not ivory.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I've looking for this style of sweater for a while. Finally I have it from LLB. I am 5.6, 126 pounds, normal size 2 or xs. Because this sweater is 100% cotton and I want wear a shirt or blouse like the photo shows, I ordered size s. It fits me perfectly.

This is a beautifully-made sweater that will never go out of fashion. In cotton, it is more versatile than the traditional wool which is luxurious but too hot. The sweater runs on the small side for a shrunken, feminine look; however, I want to be able to wear it with a chambray shirt underneath, as pictured on the model, so I ordered up. I'm 5'8", 130 lbs, normally S; I ordered M and it's perfect - not skintight but not lumpy either.

I had been searching for ages for a high-quality fisherman sweater in cotton. This one exceeded my wildest expections. It's a beautiful classic, but with a flattering, feminine fit that's a little closer to the body. I got the XS, which is my usual Signature size, and it's perfect; somewhat fitted, but with plenty of room for a shirt underneath (similar to the photo). Finally, a lovely investment-piece fisherman that's neither made of wool, nor looks as if it came from your husband's closet. Love love love it!

When I received this sweater my first thought was how well made and heavy it feels. After I had read the sizing I had decided to order a size bigger and am so glad I did. I normally am a true medium but ordered a large . This sweater runs on the small size so the large was a perfect fit. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality sweater that can be worn in the fall in place of a jacket because it is so substantial. You would not be disappointed and you will enjoy this for years to come

For years, I've been looking for a cotton fisherman sweater to replace an older one that I wore to shreds. I ordered up and I'm glad I did. The sweater is beautifully made, but the color (beige) is much darker that what is pictured on the model. It's almost khaki. I may return it based on the color, but I hate to because it is a nicely made sweater.
